Croatia in the Press

October 3, 2010: ''Zadar, Croatia, is a wow place to visit '' by By Janice Law | The Galveston County Daily News (view online)

.....The Dalmatian Coast is a reasonably priced family destination where English is widely spoken. Flowers grow over abandoned military vestiges. And the sea plays music; the "Sun" lights a city....

Although traditionally Dubrovnik gets the oohs and aahs, for my money, Zadar is the truer star of the Dalmatian Coast, the current "in" destination across from the calf of the Italian boot.

Part of what makes Zadar a "wow" are two one-of-a-kind-in-the-world seaside creations of Croatian artist Nikola Basic. In 2006, Basic's work won the European Prize for Urban Public Space.

In 50 years of world travel to more than 100 countries, Basic's delightful "Sea Organ" and "Sun Salutation" are among the most ingenious human-made creations I have ever seen......And they are the only site I experienced lying on my back side-by-side with fellow tourists on cold stone near midnight, our ears pressed against pipes......... September 16, 2010 : Island hopping off Croatia's Dalmatian Coast by George Webster for CNN (view online)

(CNN) -- Stretching along Croatia's south-westerly rim, the Dalmatian coast has established a reputation for being the French Riviera of the east.

Hollywood stars Sean Connery, Gywneth Paltrow and Pierce Brosnan have all professed their love for the region, while Clint Eastwood and Sharon Stone are said to have sought their own private islands there.

Famed for its pristine stone and red-roofed towns dating back to Medieval times, Croatia's Roman ruins, picturesque ports and crystal clear waters attract a bevy of superyachts to its shoreline during the summer months -- as well as a growing number of international tourists.

For visitors looking for a quieter time, Fall, after the summer crowds have left and the weather remains warm, is when the Dalmatian coast really comes into its own.

From historically beguiling Split and fashionable Hvar, to the picturesque island of Korcula and the inimitable walled city of Dubrovnik, here is Mainsail's five-day itinerary for an autumnal cruise along the Dalmatian coast......

February 22, 2010 : Island Brac in Croatia among ten world islands best for living. (view online)

....Brač is desirable to live on account of its clean air and sea. It is one of the most beautiful and largest islands in Dalmatia, with numerous olive-trees and amazing clean sandy and stone beaches, writes "Islands". Its connectedness to the mainland is excellent, and the rich culinary offering consists of fresh fish, clams, home made lamb and cheese. Also excellent is the red wine sort Plavac. The people are relaxed, and their life does not only consist of work, but, as opposed to the Americans, they can enjoy drinking coffee in cafes by the sea, claim the journalists of the American magazine, concluding that life on Brač is medium-paced, just as it should be............

May 25, 2009: Croatian islands chosen as the most beautiful in the world. (View online)

The Spanish edition of Conde Nast Traveler magazine chose the islands of the Croatian Adriatic as among the most beautiful in the world yesterday (Tues) in Madrid....

March 12, 2009: Travel Channel - Bridget Marquardt (View online)

Croatia is a place I had never even dreamed of going, but once I started researching sexy beaches, it wasn't long before I started hearing the buzz about how beautiful it is, and I knew it was a "must do" on my list. I looked into it and found that not only is it a unique place to visit, it is rich in culture, history and, of course, great beaches and sexy people. It is quickly becoming a European hot spot, and once I got there I immediately fell in love with its beauty and charm. The people are friendly, the food is good and the scenery is like no other beach I have been to - By Bridget Marquardt

July 6, 2008: The New York Times - After 2,000 Years, a Croatian Port Town Still Seduces (View online)

.....Zadar has a youthful zeal, a rich architectural legacy and easy access from various points in Europe , thanks to carriers like Ryanair, SkyEurope and Germanwings. There are dozens of nearby islands to explore, and an hour or so drive from Zadar takes you to no fewer than five national parks, where you'll find lakes, waterfalls, mountains and secluded wilderness areas.....
