About Split

Split is the largest and the most important Dalmatian port.The city was first settled at the end of the third century AD, the Roman Emperor Diocletian built his palace there. Diocletian's Palace is well preserved Roman palace located now in the very heart of Split. Many of Split's historical and cultural monuments are located within the walls of Diocletian's Palace. The Palace has been since 1979 on the UNESCO World Heritage list, and is reputed to be the best-preserved example of antiquity period imperial palaces.

Split is an important regional transit center and also a very popular tourist destination.
Split has its own airport that connects it with Zagreb, as well as other international cities. Various ferry lines connect Split with the nearby Islands (Hvar, Brac, Vis etc).There are also daily ferries during the summer time that connects Split and Ancona (Italy).

Island of Hvar


Hvar is a unique fusion of luxurious Mediterranean nature, rich cultural and historical heritage and mundane tourist present. When we think about Hvar we think of sunshine and crickets, the island of lavender, sage and wine and the island of rosemary and secluded coves. Attractive in the summer just as in the winter, with pleasant Mediterranean climate, rich vegetation of palms, aloes, pine trees, laurel, rosemary and lavender and peaceful coves and islets filled with a multitude of pleasant scents.

Dalmatian seafood served in ethnic-chic eateries, a quay lined with flashy yachts, a hilltop castle, and a scattering of uninhabited islets for bathing. This is Hvar.

The recent visitors of the pretty town of Hvar were John Malkovich, Nicky Hilton, Formula 1 magnate Bernie Ecclestone, King Abdullah of Jordan, Goran Ivanisevic, Roman Abramovich etc.

Pakleni Islands is a small amazing archipelago in front of the Hvar port and a regular connections with Hvar is provided by taxi boats.

Island of Brac


Island Brac is the third biggest island on Croatian coast. It has 172 km long coast with numerous bays and beaches which follows one another. The most known beaches are Lovrecina on the northern part of island, and famous one Zlatni rat on the southern part. The highest mountain its Vidova Gora mountain - 778 meters high.

On the island there is also the Brac airport. It is a small international airport for charters and private planes, and once a week there is a regular line connecting the island with Zagreb (please check with the Croatian airlines). The Brac airport is closed during winter period. The nearest bigger airport is Split airport, which is connected regularly with most of major cities in Europe.

Supetar is the one of the biggest towns on the island and it is the main port for ferries connecting the island Brac with Split. The ferries go quite often, especially during summer, and the journey takes 50 minutes.

Island of Vis

Vis is an island rich in history, from the prehistoric settlement dating back to the Bronze and Iron Ages, to the well-known period of the Greek settlement ISSA, the naval battles of 1811 and 1816 important to the history of Europe, as well as a series of foreign rulers such as the Greeks, the Illyrians, the Byzantines, the French, the Russians, the English and the Austrians. All of it, together with the unspoiled scenery and a mild climate, should be promoted as a particular tourist and cultural attraction.

The tourist season on the island lasts for around seven months due to the very mild climate (yearly average of 19°C).In the autumn you can gather mushrooms, blackberries, blueberries and medicinal herbs.

During the summer Vis abounds in cultural events such as concerts, theatrical performances and regattas. A part of the tourist offer are also excursions around the island and trips to coves Stiniva, Stončica Srebrna, Rukavac, Zaglov, Rude and Trovna with the restaurant owned by Senko Karuza, a cult figure in literature.There are regular excursions to "Modra špilja" () on the island of Biševo, as well as short trips to the islands of Sveti Andrija and Brusnik.
Komiža is a town-museum due to its position and the preserved unity of the old settlement. It has also lots of restaurants and places to go out.
